There was just something different about Mack.  I had never seen a dog quite like him.  He had the pride of a gamecock; the musculature of a pit bull terrier; and he carried himself like royalty.  I would later learn that these traits are the trademarks of the Decker Strain in the Rat Terrier breed.

I was amazed at the overall quality of Mack.  He had two scars on his face from fighting with other dogs.  He had a tendency to challenge and try to dominate any other dog he met.  This would later prove to be his downfall.

On Christmas day 1996, Mack had dug into the pen of our pet rottweiler.  He immediately began posturing.  The Rottweiler ignored this for the most part.  However, he would only take so much.  When he retaliated, Mack's life came to an abrupt end.

Ever since we lost Mack, I have wanted to get into Deckers.  We have a breeding program consisting of high percentage Decker bred dogs with good size and impeccable pedigrees.  We breed 100% as well as lower % Decker Rat Terriers.

Our goal is to produce dogs with the same qualities Mack had.  He was a tightly built dog with a lot of muscle.  He had very short hair.  The black in his coated appeared as though it was painted on.  He had erect ears with a very serious expression.  Most importantly, he had the gritty hunting instincts that these dogs were bred to have!

We don't do this for a living.  We do it because we love Decker Giant Rat Terriers.  We will be completely honest and help our buyers in any way possible.  A written guarantee of health is given for each puppy.  First shots are given.  No puppies will leave before eight weeks of age.  This will ensure proper time for their development.  We are members of the National Rat Terrier Association.
