Welcome to Von Holzland!! This name came from our German Shepherd breeding program we had and stems from our German heritage. Although I'm a bit of American Indian & Irish too. My husbands heritage is mostly German & since we bred German lined dogs we gave our kennel a German name. I thought since we were successful w/ our kennel using this name for our breeding program for our G.S. dogs I would stick to it and use it with my Rat Terriers. Von (der) Holzland means from the woodlands which is fitting for our place as we are surrounded by woods that border farmland and what is called the little mountain here. I became interested in this breed in 2002 through
a good friend of mine, Carol Pompey of Fern Hills Rat Terriers. She helped
me get started and in 2005 I ventured out on my own. I love these dogs
especially the Decker's. Not new to breeding or training my husband &
I owned and operated a boarding, grooming and professional training kennel
for more than 20 years. We bred German (working lined) Shepherds for 20
of those years. Competing actively in the sport of Schutzhund nationally
and internationally.

Here is my handsome boy! He is starting his formal OB now and doing well. Slowly but surely! He loves to go hunting w/ my husband and at times he also goes with Dottie too. He's everybody's pal, but, loves Mom best! I'm very happy with this boy He has the looks, I personally feel, like Mr. Big, Cougar and Badger. If you compare to the pics in the Decker Rat Terrier book by Eli Brown. I don't usually like to take pics of my dogs through their kennels, but, it's the only way I can really get still shots of him w/o a leash on him (not doing off leash work yet) and he is also always on the move or right with me to get any good standing still shots. He is very energetic outdoors yet when he comes in the house is the best behaved young man. Bronson will be available for stud service to approved females. Contact me for more information. Enjoy! |

Foxy is our Mini Rat Terrier. Foxy is from mostly old rat terrier lines w/ a tad bit of decker percentage 10.93%. She is our little broken eared fireball and couch potato all wrapped up in one. If she can make it into bed with you at night that's where she'll be in the morning. She is a chocolate tri w/ lovely chocolate ticking throughout her white. She loves her toys and especially that tennis ball. Foxy will be my foundation mini rat terrier trying to breed her to a mini male w/ some higher percentages of decker blood in them to get mini pups w/ more percentage decker in their lines. Not to be a registered decker, but, just to get some of the influence in them that I personally feel would enhance trainability. |

Meet, Dottie, she is my 47.65% Decker outcross female. She has extreme hunting drive, loves those squirrels and flushing birds! I'm sure she is going to produce wonderful Decker puppies with the same type of drives. She also is one of my three house dogs and is a wonderful one at that. And what a sweetheart she is! |
